Since then the Indie movie scene has developed all over the world. While there still are Underground scenes, mostly based in smaller towns that can’t afford connections to Industry giants like Hollywood, there are culture festivals in most cities around the globe, that celebrate the art and passion that come out of their city, to connect the community with their artists. It is much easier nowadays for independent filmmakers to get their film screened somewhere and to gather an audience, especially with streaming services like Netflix or YouTube available for anyone.

When it comes to Hollywood, there is a riveting growth of an Indie scene inside of the blockbuster giant itself. In fact, many of the established studios build their own production center for Indie directors to publish their works in. With that the Indie Scene has flourished into one of the largest markets in Hollywood behind the Blockbuster movie. Directors like M Night Shyamalan and his unconventional way of storytelling have been given the opportunity to work in the Hollywood environment without strictly following the studio rules and is now shaping the way directors look at narrative. Jordan Peele has gone from a comedy writer to reworking the way the horror genre works while also presenting us with social commentary that has the potential to change the society. Independent Studios and Publishers like Blumhouse Productions have held up the quality of blockbusters with a fracture of their budget, by taking a chance on young and experimental directors.

The Indie scene in Hollywood is shaping the way movies are made and will only keep growing in the coming years.
